How ORIVA works with pharmacies

ORIVA does not manufacture or dispense medication. If your provider writes a prescription, that prescription is sent to a U.S.-licensed pharmacy partner. The pharmacy independently verifies the prescription, dispenses the medication, and ships it directly to you.

Pharmacy partners

ORIVA contracts with state-licensed pharmacies, including FDA-registered 503A and 503B compounding pharmacies. Compounding pharmacies are regulated by individual state boards of pharmacy and the FDA.

Compounded medications: what to know

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not evaluate compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are dispensed. They are made by a licensed pharmacist for an individual patient based on a provider's prescription.

Your provider may prescribe a compounded GLP-1 medication when clinically appropriate — for example, when a brand-name version is unavailable due to shortage or cost. Compounded options use the same active ingredients (semaglutide, tirzepatide) but are not the same as branded products like Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Mounjaro®, or Zepbound®.

Trademarks

Wegovy® and Ozempic® are registered trademarks of Novo Nordisk A/S. Mounjaro® and Zepbound® are registered trademarks of Eli Lilly and Company. ORIVA is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these companies.

Refills, returns, & cold-chain

Once medication is shipped, it cannot be returned or refunded. Many GLP-1 medications require refrigeration; instructions for handling are included in every shipment.

Adverse events

Report any adverse events or side effects to your provider through the ORIVA portal and to the FDA MedWatch program.
