Tirzepatide

A dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist. Pricing starts at $279/month with provider review.

Last updated: November 2026

What it is

Tirzepatide is a dual receptor agonist — it acts on both GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 receptors. In clinical trials it has shown the largest average weight reduction of any approved weight-management medication to date.

How it's taken

A once-weekly subcutaneous injection. Like semaglutide, your provider will start low and titrate the dose over weeks to manage side effects.

Common side effects

Serious but rare risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors.

Compounded vs. branded. Mounjaro® and Zepbound® are FDA-approved branded versions of tirzepatide. Compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved and is dispensed by a licensed pharmacy when clinically appropriate.

Pricing

Starting at $279/month, billed monthly. Includes provider review, medication, supplies, and shipping.
